Rachel Cusk has provoked critics and readers with her revealing and candid writing about her own divorce and the uncomfortable compromises she has had to make as a mother, in her memoars A Life’s Work and Aftermath, the latter of which is now published in Norwegian translation.
After these memoars, Cusk announced that she was done with the genre, and didn’t write in almost three years, until she begun her groundbreaking Outline trilogy, seen by many as revolutionizing the novel.
