Patricio Pron
Patricio Pron was born in Argentina in 1975 and now lives in Madrid, where he works as an author, journalist and translator. Last year, his first book was published in Norwegian, My Fathers’ Ghost Is Climbing in the Rain, a title that is being published in ten countries. Pron is featured on Grantas list of the 25 best young Spanish-speaking authors right now. Among his inspirational sources, he lists David Foster Wallace, Vladimir Nabokov, Flannery O’Connor, W.G. Sebald, Roberto Bolaño.

Alejandro Zambra
Alejandro Zambra was born in Chile in 1975. In 2006 he won the national critic prize for his debut Bonsai, a book that was considered epoch-changing and was also transformed into a film. He has since made a strong impact in what was later named the new Latin American wave, with both poetry, essays and novels. He works as a literary professor at the Universidad Diego Portales in Santiago and regularly writes about literature in the daily press. The novel Ways to come home is published at Pax in 2012, in relation to the Latin American week at the House of Literature.

Emiliano Monge
Emiliano Monge was born in Mexico in 1978 and is a political scientist and author, residing in Barcelona. His latest novel, El Cielo Árido, won Premio Jaén de Novela of 24,000 Euro earlier this year and is an intense novel about Mexico’s violent history in the twentieth century. Here we meet a fictional Latin America where the only things guaranteed are loneliness, violence, an unbearable sun in a desolate landscape, and a daily struggle to find values that can make life meaningful. Monge has published non-fiction, essays and novels, and has worked as an editor and critic in several literary journals.

Paula Ilabaca Núñez
Paula Ilabaca Núñez, born in Santiago de Chile in 1979, has studied language and journalism and is now teaching at Pontifica Universidad Católica in Chile. She debuted in 2003 with the collection Completa, and has since published La Ciudad Lucia (2006) and La Perla Suelta (2009). She is famed for being a raw and playful poet, that constantly finds new forms of expression: pure readings, performances or working with audio and video collages.

Guadalupe Nettel
Guadalupe Nettel was born in Mexico City in 1973. She has lived in Paris, Montreal and Barcelona and works as an author and translator in addition to teaching a writing course. She has received a number of prizes for her short stories and novels, and was one of 39 selected in 2007 by the Hay Festival in Bogota.

Pedro Carmona-Alvarez
Pedro Carmona-Alvaraz was born in Chile in 1972, but fled when he was 10 years old with his family to Norway via Argentina. Carmona-Alvarez has released three novels and has won the Cappelen Prize, Sultprisen and Lyrikklubbens award for his authorship, in addition to the Critic Prize for the translations in the anthology The world does not exist on the map that he co-edited with Gunnar Wærness.

Andrés Rivarola Puntigliano
Andrés Rivarola Puntigliano is Associate Professor at the Department of Economic History and lecturer at the Latin American Institute at Stockholm University, with geopolitics, economical integration and development theory as his main field. Rivarola Puntigliano has written about the relationship between state and nation in light of globalization, and is a popular lecturer in Sweden.
Martín Hopenhayn
Martín Hopenhayn is Director of Social Development at CEPAL, the Economic Commission for Latin America, and PhD in Philosophy from the University of Paris VIII where he studied under Gilles Deleuze. Since 1981 he has lived and worked in Santiago, Chile. Hopenhayn is the author of a number of reputable non-fiction works and article collections, about topics such as modernity and identity in Latin America.
OTHER CONTRIBUTORS
Gisle Selneser is professor of Literature at UiB. He has written the book The Fourth Continent. Essays on America and other foreign phenomena and edited Agora’s theme number about Jorge Luis Borges in 2010.
Inger Elisabeth Hansen has received Brageprisen for her poetry, and has translated a number of Latin American poets into Norwegian. She has also taught Spanish-language literature at UiO.
Benedicte Buller is a political scientist, Associate Professor at The Centre for Development and Environment, UiO and head of the Norwegian Network for Latin America Research.
Mikkel Bugge debuted with the collection of short stories Yttersiden in 2007. The novel Gå under jorda came two years ago and was awarded both the P2-listeners novel award and the Youth’s Critics award. Bugge has also written several pieces for the stage.
Torgeir Rebolledo Pedersen is a poet, playwriter and architect. He has also written several literary cabarets, a libretto and has performed with, among other things, the Stuntpoets and as a slam poet.
Kjartan Fløgstad was first published in 1968 and has written novels, essays, plays and poetry. Fløgstad has received a number of prizes for his renowned writing, including the Nordisk råds litteraturhuset, the Aschehoug Prize, the Critics Prize and Brages Honorary Prize.
Kristina Solum er translates and interprets in Spanish, French and English. She has translated Patricio Pron and Roberto Bolaño into norwegian. For the work with the latter’s novel The Savage Detectives she received the 2009 Critic Award for Best Translation.
Fabián Mosenon is from Bueonos Aires. He is a sociologist and teaches Latin American politics and history at the University of Oslo.
Janneken Øverland er a publisher and long-time editor of translated literature at Gyldendal, with responsibility for the works of Gabriel García Marqúez, Isabel Allende and Mario Vargas Llosa. She has also written prose and is a former editor of Vinduet.
Simon Stranger wrote Den veven av hendelser vi kaller natten in 2003. He has since written books for both children and adults, and is translated into a variety of languages. The genre-crossing book Mnem about a fictional city, forgetfulness and dreams was released in 2008. Stranger has recently released the novel En fremmed i verden.
Salvadoran Horacio Castellanos Moya and Brazilian Adriana Lisboa, who was had previously been announced on the program, unfortunately had to cancel. The events they were supposed to be participating in will be conducted as planned.
